How to Buy Bread

Diet and nutrition image.

If you include bread in your diet, here are some things to consider when shopping:

  • Look for bread made from whole grains, especially those with sprouted grains, which offer more naturally occurring vitamins, minerals and fiber.
  • Avoid breads made from enriched white flour. Processing of most flours involves heat and bleach which destroy vital nutrients of the grain.
  • Find breads without preservatives. Search the freezer section for products that are wholesome and avoid additives in an attempt to extend shelf life.

Like any change, making healthier choices means developing new tastes and new habits. Visit your local health food store. Make it an adventure and give yourself time to appreciate the subtle flavors.

Do nerves actually get pinched?
Chiropractors recognize two types of nerve disorders involved in subluxation. The least common is a pinched nerve that diminishes nerve supply to an affected organ or tissue. More common is the irritated nerve (facilitative lesion) which overexcites nerve communications to an affected organ or tissue. Chiropractic care has been shown to help with both types.
Is a muscle spasm a cause or an effect?
With the knee-jerk use of muscle relaxers, you'd think it was a cause. But it's an effect. Chiropractors know that bones don't move unless muscles move them. And muscles don't contract unless commanded by the nervous system. That's why your nervous system is the focus of our Durant chiropractic practice.
